About the Publisher
Orthoptics Australia is a single-entity, not-for-profit organisation incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee under Australian (federal) law. In line with the legal requirements and obligations of this structure, the Orthoptics Australia Board of Directors https://www.orthoptics.org.au/about-oa/governance/board-of-directors has full responsibility for the operations of the organisation and is able to delegate as it sees fit in order to ensure the organisation achieves its objectives. One such objective is the publication of a peer-reviewed scientific journal, namely the Australian Orthoptic Journal.
The Orthoptics Australia Board of directors hold significant responsibilities, both individually and collectively. Importantly, the Corporations Act requires all directors to act in the best interests of all members of the organisation. They must declare conflicts of interest which can arise by their connections both outside and within the organisation, including any other role they hold within the organisation such as Branch Chair, Conference Convenor, Australian Orthoptic Journal Editorial Board and the like. In the interest of openness and transparency, Orthoptics Australia activities are reported annually, including activities related to the Australian Orthoptic Journal https://www.orthoptics.org.au/about-oa/our-organisation/annual-report/.
Orthoptics Australia is committed to supporting research and open access to publications through the Australian Orthoptic Journal, thereby allowing wide dissemination of academic and clinical work.
