Patients with colour vision defects characteristically confuse reds and greens or blues and yellows. Exactly which pair is confused is of significant diagnostic importance and it forms the basis of the pseudoiso-chromatic colour vision tests and the diagnostic basis of the arrangement colour vision tests (i.e. the Farnsworth-Munsell tests).
This paper discusses the major types of colour vision tests. The application of the tests and interpretation of the results is outlined and illustrated with case studies.
